Vertical Students Tonight — March 24, 2019
St. Patrick’s Day was AWESOME
Thanks for all who were a part of our St. Patrick’s Day Thrift Party — lots of GREEN, but also lots of laughs! It was a great time. Tonight, we’re ready to jump back into our study of Ephesians.
What We’re Teaching
The Book of Ephesians can roughly be organized into two main sections: chapters 1-3, Paul focuses on the GOSPLE STORY — it’s more theological, with an emphasis on what God has done for us in the gospel. As we break into chapters 4-6, he turns a corner to talk about OUR STORY — the implications of our theology. Paul wants us to see that an understanding of WHO you are in Christ and the gospel has PRACTICAL implications for your life, so for the next 4 weeks, we’re going to look at a few of those practical considerations for students.
Briley is going to be teaching on Eph 4;:1-16, focusing on the idea of our unity and our gifts; that we’ve been given spiritual gifts to build up the body of Christ. We want students to see themselves as GIFTED and able to contribute to building up the church. Serving isn’t something we have to wait until we’re older to do, God wants to use all of us now to build his kingdom.
Paul says that spiritual gifts are given to believers to help build up the church — how are you using your gifts? How are you serving God’s church? As parents, we want you to lead the way for your students to follow.
Some questions you can ask your student
Do you think it’s important to serve the church? Why or why not?
What do you think God’s gifted you with? What are some abilities you have that he might want to use?
How do you think we are doing as a family at serving together? How can we improve?
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to let me know! :)
